Today, many technology innovations provide great functionality at lower price, giving more values to customers and stimulate mobile consumer market. The trend had shifted the consumers closer to business where on-line transaction can be done through simple clicks at palm.

Product designers have played a great role in improving interfaces for better information presentation over mobile devices. Many technology corporations have been engineering on artificial intelligence to humanize handheld devices into a better personal assistant. In the most familiar face, Siri technology in iPhone 4S is the most advance implementation of voice recognition technology that can help the owner to get things done by asking.
Geographical location technology must also be accredited for the success of Mobile Commerce. In order to deliver location service, mobile device tracks individual physical location as he or she moves about. Without many consumers knowing, some data-mining company use the Global Position System (GPS) to track their movement for market research. As such, this help researchers to study the consumers’ habits and behavior to exploit further possible technologies to complement lifestyle.

With much convenience provided through GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication), the most common cellular standard, extended by the GPRS (General Packet Radio System), banks and payment gateways have adopted token authentication as the best practice for safe mobile transaction. Soon to be true, more consumers will have a better reason to switch to cashless payment after the announcement of NXP Semiconductors N.V. secure contact-less Near Field Communication (NFC) technology solution.

On top of the cutting-edge technology, mobile web platform is available today to help company engages in the development and management of mobile site without much complexity. It is an on-line system that provides convenience to member of staff to manage the entire mobile web site without the need for any technical knowledge. For many business owners, this is thought to be highly sustainable and cost-effective than the traditional method of engaging highly paid professional to work on project based web development. A mobile site builder helps organisation to suit their mobile site exactly to the company image without compromising its security.

Strong infrastructure combines with innovative technological ideas give additional earning opportunities to vendors with reliable products. Besides setting up a physical store, a virtual business is equally important to attract technology savvy consumers who tend to leverage on the social network to search for better deals in the vast internet space.

    Examples of Science Fair Projects

Part of the preparation that is completed by the teaching staff in readying a science fair event is presenting the ideas to the students. Some students are very interested in these types of extracurricular events and other students would just as soon remain anonymous in the back row of the class. This aspect of preparation involves a sales pitch of sorts from the teacher. She or he must present the idea to the class while fostering the encouragement for the students to participate. The prizes and recognition will motivate some students and other students will be motivated by the opportunity to explore some topic that interests them. The latter set of students will need little encouragement and former group will likely retain enough interest to at least consider what the teacher is presenting. One way to sell the class on these events is to show them examples of science fair projects.

One of the most effective examples of science fair projects is the stink bomb.
If students were to rank their favorite among the examples of science fair projects, this smelly chemical reaction would be in the number one position. There are two reasons for using this example of science fair projects. The first is to get the attention of the students hiding on the back row and convince the others that this can be a fun and enjoyable process. There is nothing quite like a demonstration to win over a crowd of less than enthusiastic teenagers! The second reason is that if you use this example of a science fair project in class then the students cannot use it in the science fair. This clever reason prevents all the mischievous students from showing up to the science fair with all manner of smelly projects. By using this as examples of science fair projects in class you take it off the table as a possibility for student experiments.

Once the teacher has gotten the attention of the whole class and the neighboring classes down the hall with the stink bomb, she or he should have no trouble signing up the students for this event! Once this is done the students can begin discussing what topics they would like to demonstrate at the now popular school science fair.

A newly minted standard, called scalable video coding (SVC), enables video streaming at multiple resolutions, quality levels and bit rates. The ability to scale video performance based on the end point is achieved through this relatively new technology called H.264/SVC (Scalable Video Coding) that not only compresses but also distributes the video stream.

The standard allows us to have layers of encoded video, and if we use intelligent devices, it can allow us do lots of other things as well. To understand the principle behind these intelligent devices, we need to look at how videoconferences usually work.

Today’s videoconferencing relies on fairly unintelligent devices at the edge, and intelligence in the core, which is also called a “mainframe” model. A multi-point conferencing unit receives streams of video from each participant, decodes them, combines them and re-encodes them.

The traditional approach of doing encoding and decoding in the core introduces delay. It also means that users all get the same data stream, rather than one suited to their bandwidth, window size and client. In short, transcoding in the cloud makes for lousy conversations.

The SVC architecture puts more intelligence at the edge and a specialized router in the core. In the new model, the router and each participant’s client work together. They tailor data transmission to each client’s demands. When a client shrinks the size of their video window, the router knows and as a result, sends fewer bits, less frames, or lower-quality video to that client without affecting everyone else. The router isn’t busy encoding, merging and decoding streams, but it knows about processing, window size and bandwidth, which it can adjust dynamically throughout the call.

The standard tells us how to decode. The method used to encode is a lot harder and is considered the secret sauce. The router is usually a 1RU, Linux-based quad-core computer that handles up to hundred-way conferences. It is usually sold as a subscription model for about $1,000 per HD port per year, which is cheaper than the traditionally capital-intensive spending around video conferencing. Video gateways that let “legacy” video conferencing hardware work with the new standard are also available in the market.

This technology allows us to get live, four-way web-based conferencing in which each participant may have different local settings from a high-definition video at 60 frames per second to a consumer-grade VGA connection to a notebook camera. And the best part is that a typical broadband connection will suffice for end users.

    Science Fair Hypothesis

Younger students will often participate in science fair by presenting a science experiment that has a predictable result. That is, these age groups will follow instructions and use commonly found materials to demonstrate a fact or interesting tidbit about the nature of biology or chemistry. Older students, however, have advanced beyond simply using experiments that have already been done thousands of times before. At this age they will often be required to develop a science fair hypothesis and take all the necessary steps to prove or disprove that hypothesis. This requirement is designed for the older students because they have developed the learning and thinking abilities required for analysis and application. These higher order thinking skills are used to develop the science fair hypothesis and put that hypothesis to the test.

A science fair hypothesis can be developed around any topic related to science. One of the most popular science fair hypothesis categories currently being explored by older students is in the environmental arena. Many students are developing their own creative science fair hypothesis in order to address the concerns of environmental issues. While these topics decreased for a while, they are making a strong comeback, as students want to research a science fair hypothesis that will have a positive impact on the health of the planet. Many of these science fair hypotheses are developed by students at the high school level as an attempt to discover solutions to issues such as pollution, clean water, greenhouse gases and other problems we are facing on the environmental front. The current student body of budding young scientists is very motivated and interested in issues on this topic.

A science fair hypothesis surrounding the need for solutions to our even increasing concern for the health of the planet is one from which we all benefit. While the adult world may view these science fair projects as kid stuff there are others that will seriously consider the findings of these young scientists. Scientists currently working in environmental fields judge many of these science fairs. They are in search of the creative minds of the future generation in hopes of encouraging them to continue their work in testing a science fair hypothesis. What begins in school may just be the solution to our ecological problems on the planet.

Sensata Technologies earlier demonstrated various approaches regarding auto occupant sensing. The demonstration is also aimed at helping engineers design seat belt alert systems that are more precise in order to offer an improved level of consumer safety and convenience.

The company, which was previously called the Sensors & Controls business of Texas Instruments, showed its new pride which is called as the piezo electric sensor. It also flaunted the current Monocrystalline Silicon Strain Gauge (MSG) force sensor. The sensors gave engineers a range of design options and they make new seat belt alert systems more dependable and ‘consumer friendly.’ The sensors also showcase an edge that could boost air bag classification systems.

The new piezo electric sensor is deemed the solution to the traditional weight. The problem occurs when detection systems get confused about differentiating between a person or a heavy object such as a box, bag of groceries, and the like thus creating irritating false seat belt alerts. A piezo electric wire, which is mated to a pad that is easily mounted under the seat cushion to deliver input to an electronic module, senses the frequency response of a human. As such, it can determine the relative position of the passenger.

“Consumers will use seat belt alerts that accurately determine if a passenger is really in the car. A box or laptop bag won’t annoy them anymore because the system thinks it’s a person,” said Michael Mainvielle, the market segment manager at Sensata Technologies.

The Sensata piezo sensor is engineered to be conveniently integrated into a variety of seat structures, including A- or B-surface mounting. It also accommodates all seat covering options including ventilated seats. Additionally, a three-position sensor is made available for rear seats. The sensor also is designed to complement the overall performance of the vehicle without compromising safety and ergonomics. Moreover, auto parts like the airbags, seatbelts and Banks power will be complemented well by the said technology.

Due to the sensor’s ability to correctly measure weight and passenger position, the new technology from the manufacturer is also being considered for use with new Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 208 classification airbag deployment systems. The sensors are expected to provide a single, integrated solution for two significant consumer safety concerns.

The Monocrystalline Silicon Strain Gauge Pressure (MSG) Occupant Weight Sensor (OWS) that uses a silicon MEMS strain gauge element glass bonded to a stainless steel diaphragm. Four MSG sensors could be conveniently mounted within the seat structure to make accurate weight measures for safe airbag deployment and compliance to the FMVSS208. The sensors are available in a wide variety of designs including an axial or flange rigid sensor, a rigid sensor with a Stress Reduction Component (SRC); or an SRC at flange center style. These options from Sensata Technologies offer designers a plethora of styling and mounting flexibility.

A greenhouse is basically a structure that has been designed to capture and retain the heat from the sun. It is used to grow plants when the climate does not want to cooperate. Greenhouses can be used in a number of science fair projects and can be used to test concepts from a variety of fields of sciences including engineering, physics, botany and biology.

    Project #1 Capturing Heat Energy

In this project the students will be designing a greenhouse that captures heat energy from multiple sources. They will be capturing heat energy from the sun and geothermal heat energy from the ground. This project will require the student to learn about heat extraction techniques related to solar energy and geothermal energy.

Sample hypotheses that can be tested with this project include:
    (1) The thickness of the plastic used for enclosing the greenhouse impacts the amount of heat conservation in the greenhouse;
    (2) The opaqueness of the material used for enclosing the greenhouse impacts the amount of heat conservation in the greenhouse;
    (3) The depth of the insulation on the floor of the greenhouse impacts the amount of geothermal heat conservation in the greenhouse.

    Project #2 Growing Radishes

In this project the student will build a greenhouse so that they can grow radishes and conduct experiments on the radish plants during times of the year that are not normally conducive to gardening. Radish projects can look at a number of things. For example, students can try to cross pollinate radishes with another root vegetable like carrots, they can attempt to grow radishes in sand or they can try to manipulate the size of the radish by exposing the plant to 20 hours of light per day.

    Project #3 Engineering Greenhouses

For students that are interested in engineering, greenhouse science fair projects can be developed with an engineering focus. For example, students can try to develop a greenhouse using nothing but materials that are normally thrown out or recycled, such as cans, bottles and plastic containers. Students will not only need to design and build their greenhouse, but they will also need to test the effectiveness their greenhouse has in regards to collecting and conserving heat energy.

Project #4 Studying Solar Energy Applications

The final project option will be an application project. Students will be learning about solar energy and how to use this knowledge to harness the suns energy to heat a greenhouse. For this project students will design and build a greenhouse that maximizes the energy delivered by the sun. A good approach for this project is to see if their design can magnify solar energy within the greenhouse to make it effective in cold weather.

Thermal night vision makes use of temperature to spot a person, animal, or object. This tool detects heat and produces images that reflect the placement of that heat. Most often incorporated into night vision goggles, the technology is used by law enforcement officers and hunters. Though less common, thermal night vision is also being incorporated into video cameras for better night shots. Another place one might find thermal imaging is in detecting mold or poor insulation.

Thermal imaging, especially in the use of night vision goggles, allows a person to see another being without being seen. Unlike older versions of the technology or using flashlights, the light is not visible to the other party. Current gear is also much lighter than previous models.

Law enforcement officers might use thermal night vision to tail a fugitive or investigate the scene of an accident. Often the technology is attached to law enforcement vehicles. This equipment shows heat images from a distance, so long before a vehicle is apprehended; an officer can see the make and model of a car. Military personnel and firefighters also use the technology for their duties.

Thermal night vision is used for security cameras. Security cameras with thermal imaging technology can detect activity in any area, even if it is not well lit. Many security systems come with a simple, wireless set-up and are low cost.

Photographers and videographers also make use of thermal night vision. Photographers use it to take digital SLR images under low light or even during the darkest time of night. Movie directors also use this technology to film night scenes.

Thermal night vision is useful for construction workers and home inspectors. Since thermal night vision products detect heat they can also spot places where there is not enough heat. That helps a person see if the insulation in a building has worn down or is missing. It can also detect radiation leaks.

The same technology aids workers in detecting the potential for moisture and mold problems. If there is a vast difference between the temperature inside and the temperature outside, it can create moisture problems. Inspectors can use thermal imaging to compare the temperatures inside and outside a home, spotting and potentially preventing mold and mildew problems.

Uses for thermal night vision abound. Some common uses are law enforcement, mold detection, photography, and security. It is also used in hunting, particularly in the use of thermal night vision goggles. The technology works by detecting heat and projecting images from the data. In law enforcement, it can be used to catch suspected criminals.
